The Writer :
Bob Boyton performed his first gig twenty years ago in a pub in Tottenham.
Since then he has performed to thousands of people in venues that include
the Duke Of Yorks Theatre, The Hackney Empire and theatres and clubs in
Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast.
Bob's stand up comedy lead the Sunday Times
to describe him as
'One of the Best with Something to Say',
Teddy Taylor M.P. to describe him as a
'Sick Marxist comic' and
The Scotsman to call him
'The Joe Orton of Alternative Comedy.'
He was also a founder member of The Comedy Store's
Cutting Edge show.
Since the mid 90's Bob has concentrated on performing and writing for the
theatre. His last production
'Stories From Mean Street', with Mark Thomas,
was critically acclaimed by both The Guardian
who gave it four stars and called it
'excellent'
and The Independent who said
that the tales of contemporary working class life
'resonated with authenticity.'
In 2000 Bob presented a three part documentary for
B.B.C.2 about the death of a homeless young man,
'Who Killed Mark Faulkner?'.
Bob has also written for The Guardian, Big Issue and the B.B.C website
Bob has paid his own rent for some years by working with homeless people. |
